Risen Kids
Every Sunday Morning
Nursery - 3rd Grade
Meets weekly during the sermon

Risen Kids exists to assist parents in leading their children to follow Jesus.
We take seriously the responsibility to provide a safe and loving environment in which children can learn. Each lesson and activity strives to help children know Jesus, understand His Word, and share Jesus’ love with others!
Our Children’s Ministry aims to join parents in shepherding the children. Our hope and prayer is that by God’s grace, these children would bear much fruit in following Jesus, and be a transformative influence in Concord, Cabarrus County, and among the nations!
Ages Served
Every Sunday, our Risen Kids’ Ministry Team serves kids from Nursery through 3rd Grade (ages 0 to 9).
The first half of our service is fully “Family Integrated”, but we allow younger kids to enjoy a lesson and age appropriate activities during the second half of service, primarily during the sermon. Your children are not required to be in Risen Kids, and they are welcome to stay in all of service, if that is your preference. We simply want to make this available as a resource to parents and a tool in family discipleship.
Check-In & Safety
In order to help each child in their spiritual journey, we take extensive steps to ensure that they feel and remain safe while in our care. Each volunteer-teacher has been background checked, vetted, and trained to work with your child and ensure their safety.
Our Kids Check-In Team will be the first to meet you and help you check in at the kiosk in our main foyer. Here is the information we will need the first time you check in your child:
Parent’s Name & Contact Info (in case we need to reach you during service)
Child’s Name
Allergies or other need-to-know information
Once checked in, your child will worship with you during our first few songs and our time of prayer, and they’ll be released to Risen Kids during the final song before the sermon.
Curriculum
Every week, we study and discuss a story from Kevin DeYoung’s The Biggest Story Bible curriculum. Children also are taught about and memorize a “Memory Verse of the Month” - which corresponds with our primary worship service and regular sermon series. Occasionally, kids will participate in an additional game or craft. The kids also sing songs from Seeds Family Worship and enjoy a few minutes free play until our worship gathering has concluded and parents are ready to pick-up.

Risen Kids - FAQ
Why is Kids’ Ministry only during the sermon?
We do this for a few reasons. First, we want the whole church to worship together for part of every Sunday. Second, this helps our children be prepared for the transition out of Kids Ministry when they reach the age that they stay in the whole service. Rather than creating an abrupt change, they grow into being present for the entire service. Finally, it allows our volunteers who serve in Risen Kids to be present for most of the main gathering, even when they are serving.
How are classes subdivided?
Our Nursery Team currently serves ages birth to 2-3. Our Preschool + Elementary Team currently has a combined class for ages 3-4 to 9. The transition into the next class is currently at parents’ discretion, when the child is ready.
We do intend to subdivide once again to separate pre-school and elementary, as our serve team continues to grow.
Will there ever be more Kids’ Programming?
By our third year of ministry, we hope to launch an “Equipping Hour” (otherwise known as Sunday School) for both children and adults. During that time, we will likely utilize a full-spectrum Kids’ Ministry Curriculum like Truth:78, in age-specific classes.
When we are able to begin these classes, we intend to open up late elementary and middle school ages as well.
Is Risen Kids Allergy Friendly?
Yes! We serve gluten free, dairy free, and nut free snacks (typically Chex and organic gummies) and water. However, it is still helpful for us to be aware of any food allergies your child may have. Please inform our Risen Kids Team when you check your child in for the first time.
What should I bring for my child?
It can be helpful to bring a small bag or backpack for your child with any supplies you want to send with them. In particular, we love if you pack a re-usable water bottle and any additional snacks (allergy friendly for others’ sake) your child may need beyond the Chex and/or gummies that we provide.
Do I need to sign-up / check-in before visiting?
No! We will gladly get you set-up, on the spot, at your first visit. You are welcome to find us on Church Center (search for Risen Church in Concord, NC 28025) and add your profile and family information in advance, however.
